Our concert programme began in October 2018 with a performance at St Helens Baptist Church where we hold our rehearsals. This was a way of saying ‘Thank you’ to the clergy, elders and parishioners for their generosity in allowing us to use their church as a rehearsal venue. We were treated to some duets and solos as well as our varied concert repertoire, and we were especially pleased to welcome back one of our former members, Clare, who entertained us with her beautiful flute pieces.

The following month we returned to St Julie’s Church Hall in Eccleston where we entertained people from across the town. This concert was jointly organised with the SVP group from St Julie’s parish and it was a very entertaining evening, including Vivaldi’s ‘Gloria’, extracts from West Side Story, My Fair Lady, an Abba medley and some Glenn Miller, amongst others!

In December 2018 we held a Carol service at St Thomas of Canterbury Church, with children from the local primary school. This proved to be a very popular event and many of the congregation commented on how enjoyable it was. Some of our singers and the children read extracts from the Bible to help retell the story of the Nativity. The children also performed carols with their guitar groups.

In June 2019 we again performed with the schoolchildren, this time in St Thomas of Canterbury School. The school hall was full and it was encouraging to see so many children taking part either as singers or guitarists, or both, and obviously enjoying their music. Some of the children were also involved in added percussion for our African songs selection, and this was very entertaining.

St. Julie’s church hall in Eccleston was once again the venue for our Autumn concert in October; the concert was jointly organised with St. Julie’s and St. Teresa’s SVP group. It was lovely to see a packed audience who thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We were also treated to a special performance by a young man named Stefan, whose spectacular piano skills captivated us all. We are sure he has a bright future ahead of him.

December 2019 will see us sing at two venues: On Saturday December 14th we will be singing at Corpus Christi in Rainford. This concert is organised by the parish group ‘Corpus Christi Make a Difference’. All proceeds will be going to Willowbrook Hospice. Tickets are £10 adults, £2 children and there will be refreshments during the interval.

The following day, Sunday December 15th, we return to St Thomas of Canterbury Church for another Advent Service, ‘Joy to the World’. Children from St Thomas of Canterbury School will be joining us. This will take place in the afternoon and all are welcome to attend.
